Driving Inclusive Innovation: From Mandate to Leadership

Scaling a 10-person research operation to validate global standards for representation and accessibility in spatial computing.
The Apple Vision Pro project was defined by two non-negotiable mandates: Authentic Representation for diverse Memoji nuances and Uncompromised Accessibility to eliminate eye strain for users with visual impairments. I was charged with spearheading the research protocols to validate these goals during high-stakes hardware development.
1,000+ Participants
Managed a high-volume, in-person research pipeline with a diverse participant panel.
Mixed-Method Approach
Utilized deep-dive qualitative interviews and high-volume quantitative lab surveys.
Zero-Tolerance Quality
Established a rigorous data integrity policy for the core engineering and design teams.
Inclusive Benchmarks
Validated that the hardware eliminated eye strain and met cultural fidelity standards.
Strategic Leadership & Scale
As the project grew, I transitioned from an individual researcher to a Team Lead, managing a 10-person research operation. This rapid advancement was due to my ability to guarantee the secure, accurate delivery of mission-critical data that directly shaped the final hardware and software design decisions.
Isolated and quantified the most prevalent physical discomfort vectors, directly informing the ergonomic refinement of hardware components to optimize long-term wearability.
Ergonomic Data Resolution
1
Provided comprehensive data on gaps in authentic representation, ensuring the Memoji asset library successfully met non-negotiable standards for ethnic and cultural fidelity.
Cultural Integrity Validation
2
Established new internal accessibility benchmarks for visual comfort, critically validating that the headset eliminated eye strain for individuals with specific visual impairments.
